Description
5.56×45
5.56×45 is essentially the same exact stuff our Armed Forces would fire for training or combat. This box of 5.56×45 ammo won’t just prepare any AR-15 rifle for the range; you can also count on it when you must use your rifle as a tool for self-defense.
An M855 cartridge has a magnetic bullet, but not because Winchester decided to cut down on their production costs by giving it a bimetal jacket. On the outside the M855 bullet is indistinguishable from an FMJ – save for its green painted tip. This shows that the bullet contains a seven grain steel penetrator core. Its very hard tip enables the M855 bullet to penetrate barriers very effectively at close to medium range. The bullet’s lead and steel halves may also split apart during penetration to track two separate wound channels.
This round’s 62 grain bullet will offer the best accuracy when fired from a barrel with a 1:9 or 1:8 twist; a 1:7 twist is certainly acceptable.
As military-grade ammo, USA VALOR 5.56 has brand new heat treated brass cases. You can see the annealing marks around each case’s neck and shoulder, which shows the case will efficiently expand to seal the chamber as well as return to its original dimensions once fired. Always a good pick for handloading!
For every box of USA VALOR ammunition they sell, Winchester donates a portion of the proceeds to Folds of Honor. Since 2007 the nonprofit has provided scholarships to children and spouses of America’s fallen or disabled military veterans
